1. Say something about MyCOE and its Goals.
2. Cite at least five important uses or applications of the GIS.
3. Share your insights regarding yestedays activity on GIS.
1. MyCOE is an online learning resources that will build geographically literate generation able to use the knowledge in everyday lives to bring about sustainable development.
2. The following are the important uses/applications of the GIS: a)integrates hardware, software, and data for capturing, managing, analyzing, and displaying all forms of geographically referenced information. b)allows us to view, understand, question, interpret, and visualize data in many ways that reveal relationships, patterns, and trends in the form of maps, globes, reports, and charts. c)helps you answer questions and solve problems by looking at your data in a way that is quickly understood and easily shared. d)can be integrated into any enterprise information system framework.
3. For me, it is a timely tool for us to be use in classroom setting for the changing time especially we are now in the 21st century computer generation.
...MyCOE sounds new to me. it perks me up when i hear the acronym and more if i delve into its essence. i must say it is an important link among teachers, their students and technology towards a lasting, workable ( of course, we can if we begin)and effective education.
MYCOE? As a new participant of this training i must say it gives way to education to be able to manipulate technology using the GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM were in students can navigate, interpret, explain from map/location/data...etc
Mycoe is an online learning resources that will build geographically literate generation able to use the knowledge in everyday lives to bring about sustainable development.GIS help the learners to eplore the locations of the different countries all over the world, its land areas, populations of the people living in the area, and etc,,regarding geography.
1.)Geographic information systems (GIS) is a set of tools that captures, stores, analyzes, manages, and presents data that are linked to location(s). An information system that deals with spatial information. Often called "mapping software," it links attributes and characteristics of an area to its geographic location.
2.)The importance of GIS: a.)Community-Based Management of Wildlife. To help improve the capacity of rural communities to become more knowledgeable and effective in managing their wildlife resources, a geographical information system (GIS). b.)Battlefield Surveillance is one of the most important force multipliers which are essential for winning the future battles.GPS-GIS integrated systems provide real time meaningful location and status of various enemy assets and related infrastructure. c.)Public health uses of GIS include tracking child immunizations, conducting health policy research, and establishing service areas and districts. GIS provides a way to move data from the project level so that it can be used by the entire organization. d.)GIS can be used in any part of the disaster management cycle; namely disaster preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation. e.) The ability of GIS to analyze and visualize agricultural environments and workflows has proven to be very beneficial to those involved in the farming industry.
3.)Geographic information systems (GIS), global positioning systems (GPS), and remote sensing - are key technologies to prepare students to be tomorrow's decision makers. We, as teachers, need to provide students with relevant learning opportunities that help them to develop the skills needed for their future.
As I recall doing yesterday's activity, I would say that MyCOE aimed at providing the learners with a variety of information about the map while navigating it using GIS.
Doing yesterday's activity is a lot of fun because of 3 main reasons: first, it is really something NEW! second, I never thought studying maps would be this GREAT! and lastly, my PC cooperated and did its job that's why I finished the activity way before time...;)
MyCOE -Indeed new to me,still grasping this new idea in online learning resource.Definitely a great help for us teachers and to students as well to cope with the changing time the computer age..
this provides teachers with a new teaching strategy that will enhance the learning of the students using GIS. it can be integrated with almost all the subjects and also develops in the students awareness about the environment and the world we live in. it is a challenging yet fulfilling seminar. we have a lot to learn but the real challenge will be on applying what we have learned.
using GIS as a strategy in teaching Gen. Science can be a tool in measuring multiple intelligences among our students. It can enhance students' scientific skills on measuring, describing, interpreting and designing.
The knowledge of GPS and GIS is an essential tool for a better understanding of the world's condition, and not only that, this is also a big help for the teachers to enhance teaching -learning process, even though the applicability of this in our place is limited.
MYCOE is a learning resource that teach us the beauty of locating everything using GPS.it is very fashionable and educational so the impact of the system must be highly effective. a very good way of teaching students informing them of the GPS. this is a very effective system for the learners
Personally, I find GPS interesting and challenging to use. It stimulates one's creativity and manipulative skills in navigating places (waypoints). Though it was difficult to use at first because we missed to read the manual, in the end, i find it user-friendly. i can't wait to share my learnings to my students and that is possible only if i can purchase one.
MyCOE proves that a teacher can never be boring inside the classroom, and that learning is a neverending process and would always be meaningful to the students. We just need to be resourceful, creative and....just never tire being a teacher. The use of GIS and the GPS was new to me, though I've heard about it, but to actually experience it, is really something new and interesting. Much more with the students. This is a very helpful tool for them since it can be integrated with other subjects. The use of GIS and GPS is a very good oppurtunity to make use of technology to the max!
MYCOE which stands for My Community Our Earth. This sounds new to me but I when I joined the seminar last Wednesday I now truly understood its main purpose. This seminar calls all General Science teachers to be a steward to His creation our Planet. Since, General Science Teachers are well-informed about our planet. It's very important that teachers will serve as a leader to take good care of planet. Teachers must inspire the minds of the students.
GIS or Geographical Information System is a strategy to allow teachers to integrate ICT-based learning. ICT-based learning can help the students enhance their 21st century skills. Since, geography is part of the General Science Subject. GIS will allow teachers and students to manipulate the software which is called AEJEE, to collect data from the statistics of the software, to show the location of the different biomes in a certain country, to collate the data and use it for classroom instruction, to interpret the data gathered and to make conclusions. GIS will help the students study the world map and do some layering. GIS will not work if you don't have computer and the AEJEE software. Teachers must be computer literate.
GIS methods emphasize the quantitative analysis and interpretation of spatial data. Using GIS in geoscience courses emphasizes skills that are useful to students who intend to pursue science and non-science careers.
1. MyCOE is an information system that deals with spatial information.Often called”mapping software”. It links attributes and characteristics of an area to its geographic location. 2. Importance of GPS a. GPS can provide you information regarding locations at any time and anywhere on the earth. b. GPS is most important to people who drive into unfamiliar territories or go for hikes, business travelers who frequent new cities and towns. c. Integrate hardware, software, and data capturing and displaying all forms of geographically referenced information. d. Provide us answer to the questions by looking the data in a way that is quickly understood and easily shared. 3. Hopefully, this can be shared in classroom setting, in a way to broaden the minds of our students through GPS.
Mycoe! what an alien word! But then I used to it as I go along with the commands. GIS program helping us teachers to present the lesson to the students in a way that will be interesting and enjoyable to them. To be a tune on what is latest on Information Technology. As of this time, it is time consuming.

ReplyDeleteGIS will be a great help to our students and teachers. Hoping will have an internet connection in the school so that students will be updated
